2015 Awards season is here!

Happy 2015 to all of our friends, family and fans! Your support is greatly appreciated!

With it being the beginning of the new year, that always means one thing for us in the freelance world: Awards Season! Whether you are an artist in the tv/film/music industry, or just a movie buff, awards season is always something we look forward to. I still have yet to watch some of the nominated films, ah! I’m running out of time!!!

There are so many awards ceremonies. You have the big ones like the Oscars (February 22), The SAG awards (January 25, that’s comin’ up, folks!), The Grammys (February 5), and the Golden Globes (January 11…tomorrow!). Then you have the smaller ones like Producers Guild Awards, Writers Guild Awards, and my favorite….drum roll please….

The Local 706 Hairstylist and Makeup Artist Guild Awards!

This year, it will be held on February 14th at Paramount Studios. I had the pleasure of attending and working at the ceremony last year (thanks to Deverill Weekes), keeping my fingers crossed that I will be there once again this year. The 2014 ceremony was beautiful and I had the privilege of meeting  Ve Neill, Steve Prouty, Rick Baker, and Joel Harlow (I’m still bummed you didn’t win that award! I was rooting for you, Cary and your team for Lone Ranger).

So, basically I met all of the artists that I really look up to and strive to be like…all in one night. Now 2 of these artists are going to be a part of my film…someone pinch me! Aside from meeting these awesome human beings, I met some people you may all have heard of- Johnny Depp, Johnny Knoxville, and Jane Jynch. In a nutshell, last year’s ceremony was like a dream come true. I even kept my lanyard with the backstage pass!

The 2015 ceremony has outstanding nominees! This year, there are 19 categories in feature films, television, and theater. The Lifetime Achievement Awards will be awarded to Rick Baker for makeup and Kathryn Blondell for hairstyling.

Congratulations to ALL OF YOU! The What It Takes team wishes all of you the best of luck, and we will see you there!

So many exceptional artists on fantastic films!
